About Phones Without Borders
Phones Without Borders is a project by selfm.aid that collects, refurbishes, and redistributes donated phones, while creating opportunities for technical learning and practical skill development.
Through hands-on workshops, participants learn how to repair and refurbish mobile phones, while contributing to the reuse of electronic devices and making technology more accessible.
We foster a collaborative environment where people share their knowledge, develop practical skills, and learn from one another.
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Technical Coordinator to coordinate the technical activities of Phones Without Borders, support the team, and ensure that our workshops and refurbishment processes run smoothly, safely, and effectively.
As Technical Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
Technical Operations & Phone Refurbishment : Coordinate the daily technical activities of Phones Without Borders, ensuring an efficient workflow for testing, repairing, refurbishing, and preparing donated phones for redistribution.
Technical Training & Participant Support : Plan and deliver practical phone-repair workshops, support participants throughout their learning process, adapting guidance to their individual skills and progress.
Safety, Safeguarding & Risk Prevention : Ensure that technical activities are carried out safely and that workshop rules, equipment instructions, and relevant safety procedures are reviewed and followed.
Technical Infrastructure & Inventory : Maintain an overview of the technical workspace, tools, machines, and equipment, ensuring that they remain functional, organized, and safe to use.
Project Development & Communication Support : Support the Project Manager in reviewing technical objectives, monitoring progress, and identifying practical ways to improve the project and contribute to project communications, outreach, and reporting.
